Announces the LONG AWAITED

Rope Rescue Technician Program

 

Scope

This five-day program is intended for personnel who want to acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required to serve at the technician level during a rope rescue incident as defined by MUSAR.  It will focus on rigging theory and those practical skills that support the needs of the Task Force and the Michigan Fire Service.

 

Objectives

The participant will, congruent with the requirements of this course and MUSAR requirements:

 

  1. Understand incident management of a rope rescue emergency
  2. Tie all knots/bends/hitches
  3. Construct anchor systems
  4. Construct and operate individual and system belays
  5. Construct and operate a mainline system
  6. Perform the role of rescuer/litter attendant over the edge
  7. Construct elevated anchor systems
  8. Construct and operate horizontal rope systems
  9. Understand basic principals of force multipliers as they apply to field applications of rope rescue rigging

 

 

Course Dates, Times and Location

This pilot program will be held in

Dearborn

at the Ford Rouge facility on September 29, 30, October 1, 2 3.  Class will start at 0800 hours each day and run until approximately 1800 hours.  The lead instructor for this program is Pat Rhodes of RescueRIG (www.rescuerig.com)

Note:  Those attending this program must be proficient in the MUSAR Operations Level knots and anchoring techniques.  A basic understanding of lowering, belay systems and mechanical advantages (pulley systems) is also required.
